Varsity Football Ends Preseason With A Win!

Linfield’s varsity football team gained a win against Excelsior Charter on Friday night, with a final score of 45-7. WR Travion Brown earned the first of the Lions’ points by taking it to the house on the opening kickoff. Brown’s TD was soon followed by QB Alex Ruiz on a short run into the end zone. Ruiz would then connect with RB John Osborn for the Lions’ third TD before the end of the first quarter. Excelsior Charter’s offense found the end zone midway through the second quarter, but the Lions continued to pressure the Eagles’ defense, tallying 12 points in the second quarter, including a 42 yard field goal from kicker Tony Santoro. The Lions entered halftime up 31-7. Ruiz and Osborn would earn the Lions’ two more TDs in the beginning of the second half. But the highlight of the third quarter was when freshman kicker Scudder SinClair made his first PAT of his high school career. RB Osborn would give Linfield their final points of the night on a TD at the end of the third. The Lions now move to 3-2 to end preseason play and will have a bye next week. They will open Ambassador League play on the road at Ontario Christian on Friday, October 6th.
