Sivertson Earns 1,000 Career Assists

It was a highly anticipated night as the Lions varsity volleyball team hosted Cal Lutheran. Junior setter Devin Sivertson was two assists away from achieving 1,000 career assists. Her first of the game, 999 overall, was earned on a swing from MB Alaina Tucker and her 1000 came from a set to the outside, which was put away by senior Kelly Rausch. The tally didn’t stop there. The Lions combined for 13 kills in the first set, 4 from junior OH Sarah Newman. Serving was also in the Lions’ favor as junior DS Sam Hohulin earned 6 aces.

Sets two and three mirrored the first set offensively with numerous kills and aces from the Lions all around; Newman finishing as kill leader with 7. Defensively, Libero Camdyn Meehan tallied 10 digs and Sivertson added 3 blocks. Sivertson would end the night with 28 assists as the Lions swept Cal Lutheran in 3 sets, and now move to 4-0 in preseason. The Lions will play in the Rancho Christian “Volley in the Valley” tournament on Saturday, August 25th as they continue to open league play at Ontario Christian next week.
