The National Signing Day ceremony at Linfield Christian celebrated three girls soccer players on their decision to play soccer at the collegiate level. Linfield Athletic Director Amber Young spoke about each of the girls, of their accomplishments both on and off the soccer field, and read letters that the girls wrote to one another about fond memories as well as encouragement for the future.
Makenna Leigh will play at the University of Idaho (NCAA DI) in the fall. Makenna is a three year letter winner in soccer. She was awarded the team outstanding defense award as a freshman and the Lion award as a junior. She was named to the Ambassador All-League teams all three years (1st Team – 9th, 2nd Team – 10th & 11th). In her career, she has tallied 4 goals and 6 assists as a defender and also participated in track in her time at Linfield.
Lauren May committed to play at Westminster College (NCAA DIII) in Pennsylvania. Lauren is a four year letter winner in soccer and has tallied 4 goals and 10 assists in her career as a Lion. She served as a captain on the Lady Lions’ varsity team this year and has also participated in tennis and track.
Sabrina Inzunza will play at Ave Maria University (NAIA) in Florida in the fall. Sabrina is a four year letter winner in soccer and has tallied 13 goals and 13 assists in her career. She was awarded the team outstanding defensive award as a junior, and served as a captain this past season for the Lady Lions. Sabrina has also been named to the Ambassador All League 2nd Team as both a freshman and junior. In addition to soccer, Sabrina has competed in both tennis and track in her time at Linfield.
Prior to signing their lives away, head girls varsity soccer coach Angela Brown prayed for the girls and their future. The ceremony concluded as the girls signed their letters of intent.
