Dead Period Update

A Note From The Athletic Director…

As you may know, Linfield Christian High School is a member of the CIF Southern Section, a statewide organization that provides governance for all high school sports. CIF mandates that each sport declare a time period known as a “Summer Dead Period.” In the past, each sport was required to take three consecutive weeks off during the summer, where no practice or conditioning can take place. Teams were only allowed to weightlift during this time.

CIF just passed a new bylaw regarding the Summer Dead Period that will go into effect this summer. The Summer Dead Period is now required to be 14 consecutive days, and it must be the same 14 consecutive days for all sports programs at the high school. Practices, conditioning, and now weightlifting are prohibited during the 14 consecutive day Summer Dead Period. No sports activity whatsoever.

Prior to the school closure, Athletics originally selected June 22nd – July 5th, 2020 as our Summer Dead Period. However, due to the uncertainty of when athletics can resume, we have revised the dates of our Summer Dead Period to May 30th – June 12th, 2020, with the goal of satisfying CIF’s requirement during a time where we are currently unable to meet as individual teams for practices.

We will be in communication regarding summer practices as soon as that information becomes available. We are hoping to get back on the courts and fields soon! We miss our athletes and are praying for you!

If you have any specific questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you,

Waheed Mitchell
