Both high school and middle school cross country competed in the first Ambassador league meet on Tuesday, September 25th at Riverside Cross Country Course.
The high school JV and Varsity girls teams both finished in first place, with the victory being the first ever Ambassador League win in school history. JV secured the top three spots in the race with freshman Dani Williams (23:19), Janelle Krome (26.44), and Celine Harris (27:17) all finishing in first, second, and third place, respectively. Varsity had six runners finish in the top ten, including:
3rd – Luca Burns (21:58)
4th – Ryley Burns (22:07)
5th – Emma Lakatos (22:18)
6th – Sienna Blanche (22:59)
8th – Jaida Norman (23:25)
10th – Lucy Wu (24:05)
Varsity girls totaled a time of 1:52.49, which was six minutes ahead of Woodcrest Christian who finished in second place. The JV boys competed well with Richard Gray, Wyatt Mohr, and Cameron Barron finishing in the top 20. The varsity boys secured third place behind Woodcrest and Ontario Christian. Caden Baird led the varsity boys with a time of 18:39 along with Nick Beucler (18:49), both of whom finished in the top 20. Scudder Sinclair was not far behind Beucler with a time of 18:54. The high school team had 15 athletes set a new personal record.
The middle school cross country teams finished middle of the pack with girls landing in 7th place and boys finishing in 8th. Daisy Gale (15:01) and Vanessa Perez (15:10) were the Lions’ top runners, finishing in 15th and 17th place, respectively, out of 165 runners. Logan Pledger finished in second place with a time of 12:37. Austin Chong and Caleb Russell were also top finishers for the Lions.
Both teams will compete next Tuesday in Ambassador League Meet #2 at RCC Moreno Valley with races beginning at 2:55 pm.
