Athletes of the Month: March

Every month the athletic department will recognize 1 boy and 1 girl from both the High School and 1 Athlete per sport, per month at the Middle School campus for outstanding athletic achievement. These candidates are nominated by coaches and voted on by the athletics staff.

Kaelyn McCann

Kaelyn has had an outstanding start to her track season. In her two meets, she has set two PRs in the pole vault, breaking her own school records and winning both meets. In the Saddle Up Invitational at Vista Murrieta, she tied the F/S meet record with a vault of 11'. In addition to the pole vault, Kaelyn has been throwing the shot and discus and running to 100 and 4x100 relay. Kaelyn has an amazing work ethic and works to improve in all her events every day. Her positive, encouraging attitude is contagious to her teammates!

Toby Zhou

Toby Zhou has exhibited great dedication to the boys tennis team this year. He shows up everyday to practice and works hard. He has had early success in preseason against tough public schools. He continues to improve and makes practice enjoyable for everyone.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Kendall Schmottlach

From pom poms to basketballs, from cheering in the stands to playing ball on the court; Kendall is a perfect example of trying something new in life and actually liking it! Kendall’s passion for basketball has grown ever since she tried out for the basketball team. Not only can Kendall score points when on the court, but she also scores points academically in the classroom. When not on the court at games, her constant cheering for her teammates is a win-win as her smile and encouragement for others is uplifting and contagious.

Jake Williams

Jake is a leader among leaders. Jake is dependable, usually the first player at practice, and works hard every day. He never misses a practice or a game. In a game against Van Avery, Jake was a little under the weather and requested to enter the game in the second half when he felt his teammates needed him. Jake leads the team in minutes played, and is amongst the top three in scoring. Jake is a complete student athlete with a 3.29 GPA.

Matthew Sanford

Matthew always puts in a strong effort to lead his team in a game. He always has a good attitude even in tough scenarios. He is coachable, respectful and responsive to his coaches and teammates. With his talent and work ethic, Matthew could go far.
