Coach Dana Ortiz began coaching at Linfield in 2021. She has over 10 years of coaching experience in various roles at the club, high school, and college club level in addition to private 1 on 1 coaching. Her goal as a coach is to foster a hardworking, fun, and trustworthy environment where players can grow and learn as individuals, athletes, and followers of Jesus.
As a player, Coach Ortiz competed in club volleyball, high school varsity, and the USA developmental program playing outside hitter, opposite, and setter. She went on to play setter at the University of Florida for two years and then transferred to Oregon State for the remainder of her indoor career. After college, Coach Ortiz trained as a professional beach volleyball athlete for 4 years.
Her love of training led her to pursue a career as a Sports Performance Strength Coach and she currently trains athletes at Dynamic Fitness HPK in Temecula.
Coach Ortiz met her husband Ricky at Oregon State and together the two welcomed their daughter Emmie in April. As a family, they enjoy getting outside, enjoying God’s beautiful creation, working out, and spending time at home with their dog, Belly.
