Williams’ Work Leads Lions To A Win!

Linfield hosted Desert Christian Academy for the first time in the Conqueror’s inaugural season in the Ambassador League. The Lions started out slow in the first set with several missed serves, but still led the entire time despite numerous errors. They began to pull away at 18-15 with an ace from OH Sarah Newman, followed by a block from MB Paige Williams. Williams would tally a kill on the next point, forcing Desert Christian to call timeout. The break didn’t phase Newman, who came out and served another ace to give the Lions a 22-15 advantage. Linfield would close the set 25-17 with back-to back-kills from OH Kelly Rausch and MB Alaina Tucker, respectively.

The Lions jumped out to an early 12-5 lead in the second set. Williams scored a point off a kill to finish her time in the front row, but it wasn’t until she went back to serve that she began to go to work. Williams would score four consecutive aces on the Conquerors to put the Lions within two of closing the set. OH Kelly Sivertson and RS Haley Manning would finish the job with back-to-back kills.

Linfield never looked back tallying 10 kills and 7 aces in the third set to sweep the Conquerors 3-0. Williams led the Lions with 9 kills and 5 aces. Kelly Sivertson also earned 5 aces, while sister Devin Sivertson would finish with 33 assists on the night.

The Lions will travel to Arrowhead Christian on Thursday, September 27th for their next match at 6:00 pm.
