Lions Serve Up A Win Over The Eagles

Lions varsity volleyball hosted the Eagles from Arrowhead Christian Tuesday night in Ambassador league play. Despite a few lead changes, the Lions started to pull away in set one with back to back aces from Sarah Newman (19-17) forcing ACA to call a timeout. Newman aced once again out of the timeout and the set ended 25-19 with kills from both OPP Caylan Medley and OH Kelly Rausch.
Linfield opened set two as a serving force, with 8 aces from Rausch and setter Devin Sivertson combined. Newman also chipped in with three kills, tooling the block each time before ACA called timeout trailing 1-12. Linfield libero Sam Hohulin added two aces to the Lions total and Sivertson would close the set 25-8 serving the final three points, two of which were aces.
The Lions’ serving roll came to a brief halt in the beginning of the third set, however momentum was found in the front row from MB Paige Williams who would tally a kill and solo block back-to-back to bring the Lions even with the Eagles at 8-8. Linfield found their serving groove once again and created a gap, ending the set 25-15 with another two aces from Sivertson and Rausch. The Lions finished with 22 total aces on the night. Williams finished with 7 kills to lead the Lions, while libero Sam Hohulin tallied 10 digs, and Sivertson would add 24 assists on the night.
Linfield will travel to Woodcrest on Thursday, September 6th to face the Royals in Ambassador League play. The match is set to start at 6:00 pm.
